FILM PROMO TREATMENT

What is the basic plot synopsis?
Aiden Parker is the head detective who is the best at what he does, he solves almost all of the major cases and has a big reputation. There has been a series on unexplained murders happening in the city, with a symbol being left on each of the victims. Aiden knows that this isn't just a normal serial killer, and this is backed up by the forensic scientist saying that the murders where unusual and doesn't know what could have done it. He works day and night trying to figure out what is happening. He becomes obsessive and is losing lack on sleep because of this case. His partner Jess Woods, realises that he is becoming obsessed with the case and is hardly going home. She visits his wife to talk to her on her husbands behaviour as they are close friends outside of work. She tells Jess that he is hardly ever at home, and when she asks where is was he brushes it off and makes an excuse. Jess then finds out from his wife that he had been out every night that a murder happens and begins to become very suspicious. She begins to keep and eye on what he is doing and starts to join clues together. In the end, it is actually Aiden who is doing this killings and he doesn't know about it, as if he has another side to him that he never remembers. He has this evil, demonic presence inside of him that only wants to cause misery and trouble. (We do not show that the detective is the killer in the trailer).

What type of characters will be in the film?
The detective is our leading role, at the beginning is a tough but well liked character. He has a charm and is very good at what he does. He is a perfectionist and wants every job done right. However, throughout the trailer, he begins to become obsessive and agitated as he cannot solve the case, and he can't figure out what is happening. The partner is a caring and humble character, but as she is a female with a high role in the force, can be stern and she is very serious about her job. He status in the trailer will get higher as she begins to take matters into her own hands and begins to find out clues on her own. There is a forensic scientist, who tells the pair that the murders are different and each have been left with a mark engraved into them. The detectives wife, is a pretty and affectionate character, she loves her husband a lot and only wants what is best for him. So when he begins to disappear and coming home late, she tries to get through to him but he doesn't let her in and brushes her off. This is taking a small toll on their marriage.

What conventions of the genre are included in your trailer?
The trailer is going to start off slowly and build up to a climax, which is typical in most movie trailers. We are not going to try and give too much away in trailer as we want to audience to feel in suspense and leave them wanting more. There is going to be a montage of all different scenes of the film to give the audience a taste on what is it about and the storyline. Inter-titles will be included to make the audience intrigued.

Where will your trailer be set? What other aspects of mise-en-scene do you need to consider?
The trailer will be set in East London, it will include some city scenes as well as the city outskirts as well. The mise-en-scene considered will be costume, which the two main characters will be wearing smart clothing as they are professional detectives. Props will also include, police badges, police tape and fake blood. Some scenes will be filmed at night so a light will be used to illuminate the scene, and in some of the day scenes the lighting will be dull and gloomy.
